Oliveira Dominates Holloway, BMF Suffers
By Eddie Sanchez
On Saturday night, Charles Oliveira dominated in his five-round UFC 326 main event BMF title fight against Max Holloway.
After the first two rounds, it became clear that Oliveira was fight par for the course of his career and Holloway was in survival mode. It was clear Holloway would need to keep things on the feet, but he was showing no signs of being able to do that.
Throughout the fight, Oliveira attempted to submit Holloway on four separate occasions, and despite the success on the ground, Holloway managed to survive, though the Brazilian recorded over 20 minutes of ground control time.
After the announcement of Oliveira’s unanimous decision win, both fighters paid their respects to one another, but many fans left with a sour taste in their mouths. This fight was the antithesis of Holloway-vs-Gaethje and the legitimacy of the BMF has been brought into question by media members like Ariel Helwani.
