Frank Sanchez Asserts Himself Within the Title Picture Against Richard Torrez Jr.
By Eddie Sanchez
It was clear to anyone paying attention that the powers that be assumed Richard Torrez Jr. would walk out of Giza victorious.
In a fight that had real stakes on the line as an IBF elimination bout, Torrez Jr. was seemingly on his way towards a fast-tracked title shot.
Frank Sanchez had other plans. And he let them be heard very quickly.
Sanchez absolutely demolished Torrez Jr. with a single counter shot in the second round. That was all she wrote.
Sanchez and his team believe that they have what it takes to take on Usyk next.
“Frank sent a strong reminder that he is one of the most dangerous fighters in the division,” Borao, Sanchez’s manager, told Sky Sports.
“We hope Frank gets the opportunity to box Usyk,” Borao added, “but ultimately that decision rests with him.”
