What to Know About Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Mike Tyson

By Eddie Sanchez

Earlier this month, boxing legends Mike Tyson, 59, and Floyd Mayweather Jr., 48, agreed to an exhibition match, pitting two of the sport’s all-time greats against one another.

Tyson’s last fight, a unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul in what became the most-streamed sporting event in history, came after the former heavyweight champ had been out of the professional ring for nearly two decades. After the fight, Tyson seemed hungry for more action, even telling ESPN that he was interested in another bout if the opportunity presented itself. That opportunity has now arrived.

“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this,” said Tyson. “It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”

The fight does not yet have an official date or venue, though it appears to be targeted for spring 2026. Many details remain undecided, including the number of rounds, the required weight for each fighter, and any special rules intended to protect them.

In his bout against Jake Paul, Tyson weighed in at 228.4 pounds while standing at 5-foot-10. Mayweather’s most recent fight, an exhibition against John Gotti III, saw him weigh in at 160.8 pounds. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall.

What will they look like on fight night? Anyone’s guess. Safe to say, we will all be tuning in.
