Hearn Feeds the Wilder-Joshua Rumors
By Eddie Sanchez
Deontay Wilder, fresh off his victory over Derek Chisora, made quick work to call out Anthony Joshua for a fight. Joshua of course is heavily rumored to be lining up an even longer waited fight versus Tyson Fury.
Well, Eddie Hearn has added his two cents to the mix, and it makes Wilder-Joshua seem that much closer.
“This is what I want. We need a warm-up fight before we fight Tyson Fury, because AJ’s coming off an accident, he’s rehabilitating his body… We’ll take Deontay Wilder as that warm-up fight and then we’ll fight Tyson Fury in December,” Hearn said.
Hearn’s latest statement leads fans to believe that Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KO) will target a showdown with Deontay Wilder (45-4-1, 43 KO) this summer as a prerequisite for an end-of-year blockbuster against Tyson Fury.
Joshua, is currently training in Spain alongside Oleksandr Usyk, and is focused on a July return. Hearn said Wilder would be first before a Fury fight, and his confidence is sky-high regarding his fighter.
“I respect Wilder and I think he looked much better in that fight than he has done previously. But let me tell you, Anthony Joshua will walk through Deontay Wilder within three rounds,” claimed Hearn.
In the meantime, ‘AJ’ is likely to be ringside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday for Fury’s return against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
