Are we close to seeing a Undisputed Heavyweight Champion? If we are to believe the rumors, we are one step closer.

While Fury-Wilder III has been scheduled due to the immediate rematch clause from their sequel fight, the Coronavirus pandemic has added a level of uncertainty to the match.

Fury’s US-based Top Rank promoter, Bob Arum, exclusively told Sky Sports: “With or without audiences, we can’t do [the third fight] while Fury can’t get back into the United States due to the travel ban. Wilder couldn’t get into England either.”

These are unprecedented times we are living in and if this fight is able to come to fruition, it would be much appreciated by the fans.

According to ESPN’s Mark Kriegal, Fury-Joshua is currently being pitched for Saudi Arabia or elsewhere in the Middle East.

Certainly step-aside would be required for Wilder due to the sign contract, but given the current global situation, as well as his most recent bicep surgery, Wilder would essentially be granted free money, while postponing his inevitable clash a few extra months.

This would be an ideal situation for all parties involved: Fury and Joshua can settle the debate of the best boxer in the UK as well as crown an Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, Wilder would have additional time to heal, train and potentially have tune-up, while fans across the globe would be treated to a great clash.

As always, one must take rumors within the boxing industry with a grain of salt until anything is signed on the dotted line. For now though, fans have a juicy rumor to sit on.
