Dana Whites Shares Thoughts on UFC White House Event

Dana White has revealed the attendance plans for the UFC White House event planned for June 14, confirming the goal is to accommodate approximately 90,000 fans across two primary locations in Washington, D.C.
The event will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Declaration of Independence. To manage security detail while still creating a massive fight card, the UFC will split the live audience into two distinct zones. The South Lawn will have approximately 5,000 people, which will be the only fans with a direct, live view of the Octagon. Meanwhile, The Ellipse will have a capacity of 85,000 people and will be located across the street from the White House fence. It will feature giant LED screens, a main stage for live music and concerts, and various UFC X fan experiences throughout the day.
White talked up the UFC’s plans, as he said any matchmaking won’t happen until after January 24.
“We literally just got done going through all the logistics of how to set it up there, how many people we can have. It’s looking like we’ll have 5,000 people live on the White House lawn. It will be on the south lawn, and then across the street is the park, it’s called the Ellipse, I think, and we can have 85,000 people there.”
“We’re going to have big screens and we’re going to have a stage, we’ll have music throughout the day. We’re basically going to take over D.C. that whole week with lots of different things for fight fans. Then obviously a one-of-one event to be able to have it at the White House. Fighters will actually walk from the Oval Office to the Octagon…Now, after Jan. 24, we’ll start getting into the card,” White said.
