Mike Tyson is… Almost Back

By Eddie Sanchez

Just when you thought you had seen and heard it all in the first third of 2020, we were blessed with a gem of a rumor stating that 53 year old Mike Tyson is interested in coming out of retirement to step back into the ring.

Now it’s not exactly what you’re likely thinking. According to Iron Mike:  “I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three- or four-round exhibitions for some charities.”

What a nice guy! I am sure Mike stepping back into the ring would bring some excitement within the industry and surely would garner interest in a world that’s lacking sports-entertainment.

He certainly looks great from the short clip we have seen. With some more training, he could easily step into a ring of the charitable sort and partake in exhibitions.

Not everyone is as enthusiastic in the idea however. Champ George Foreman shared his thoughts: “Tyson has done enough great things for boxing. No more is needed. He is in the Hall of Fame and was a mighty puncher.”

Considering that last year, Mike shared with Joe Rogan that he cut training out of his life completely because the adrenaline was reminding him of his old self [and past demons], it isn’t surprising that Foreman would feel this way.

I can’t help but feel intrigued with a possibility of a future exhibition. With his health in mind, his opponent would have to be physically limited. Perhaps a round with Wilder?
All jokes aside, boxing fans don’t want to see anything that would negatively affect his health. We would only ask for entertainment.

What are your thoughts on Mike Tyson’s aspirations of a comeback? Do you think it will happen?
