Pacquiao Says ‘The fight is on’
By Eddie Sanchez
Manny Pacquiao shared with industry leader BoxingScene that Floyd Mayweather Jr has formally agreed that their September 19 rematch will be a bona fide professional match, putting Mayweather’s cherished unblemished record on the line.
Pacquiao urged Mayweather to drop the gamesmanship, regarding recent reports that Mayweather was attempting to change course and make the fight an exhibition.
“You need to honor your commitment,” said Pacquiao. “This time, there’s no reason for alibis or excuses.”
Pacquiao has spent April promoting the event, appearing at multiple sporting events, including throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium and speaking to reporters.
Pacquiao also shared that he is completely healthy this time, after fighting in 2015 with an injured right shoulder.
Until they step in the ring, it will be fair for fans to question what’s real, though things are progressing positively.
