Mayweather-Pacquiao to Rematch in September

By Eddie Sanchez

Yes, you read that correctly. The all-time great rivals are for a rematch on September 19.

The fight will take place in Las Vegas at The Sphere, which can seat up to 20,000 fans. The venue previously held UFC 306 in September 2024.

Last week, Mayweather, who will turn 49 on Tuesday, announced his plans for a professional comeback ahead of his April 25 exhibition with Mike Tyson.

Pacquiao returned to the ring July 19 in Las Vegas and challenged Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title. The fight ended in a majority draw. Pacquiao is also set for an April 18 exhibition against Ruslan Provodnikov.

Mayweather-Pacquiao II will take place more than 11 years after their first meeting, which remains the most lucrative fight in boxing history after generating more than $600 million overall revenue. Their long-awaited welterweight title fight produced a record 4.4 million pay-per-view buys and more than $72 million at the gate.

Mayweather won by unanimous decision in what many considered to be a letdown. 2026 is the year for comebacks of sorts, as Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano announced their comeback will also take place on Netflix.
