The “will they, won’t they,” has ended… Floyd Mayweather is gracing the squared-circle once more to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul, June 6th on Showtime PPV. When this exhibition was originally postponed from it’s February date, many assumed the potential event would be added to the long list of cancelled bouts that Floyd Mayweather left in the talking-stage.

As it turns out, one of the primary factors regarding the lengthy pause was due to the network deal. It is significant that Mayweather-Paul will take place on Showtime. Originally, the event was to be hosted on Fanmio, but Showtime, who likely saw the success Triller is benefiting from, swooped in and laid the hammer down to secure the deal.

Now, this fight will surely be uncompetitive. Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest technical fighters of all time. Despite giving, at the very least, 30 pounds in weight (likely more after Logan Paul balloons post weigh-in), Mayweather will have no issue controlling the tempo of the fight and will cruise to victory.

Competition is not what this event is about though. It is pure entertainment. Entertainment that will cost folks a hefty price and make Floyd large amounts of money.

He is the king at maximizing monetary gains, while minimizing risk within the ring. This event will be the epitome of that. Fortunately for the die-hard boxing fans, Mayweather will fill his undercard with some nice fights that will surely bring the action as well.

Former Junior Middleweight Champion, Jarrett Hurd, will take on Mayweather Promotions fighter, Luis Arias. The majority of boxing fans will be interested in seeing how Jarrett Hurd looks in this fight. Since losing his belts to Julian Williams in May 2019, Hurd has done little to show fans he deserves to be back in the title mix. Luis Arias will provide a rugged opponent and offer better insight into how effective Hurd can be at this stage in his career.

Additionally, this card will also showcase the rematch between Mayweather Promotions fighter Badou Jack and WBA (regular) Light Heavyweight Champion Jean Pascal. Pascal is a very accomplished fighter and fan favorite. Badou Jack is one of the toughest fighters out there. Fans will surely remember the gash he fought through against Marcus Browne, back in January 2019. He represented himself as the truest form of a warrior and will attract fans to the event. Their first bout ended in a SD victory for Jean Pascal that was filled with action throughout, and this second should not disappoint.

Floyd Mayweather is smart to offer the opportunity to let his fighters sink-or-swim in the spotlight he and Logan Paul will bring. It can be argued that Badou Jack and Luis Arias are in the middle of a setback, and June 6th will provide a high profile opportunity to change that narrative. If his fighters are successful, Mayweather could potentially parlay this success (and newfound fans) into future bouts.

In a sense, Mayweather is spending money (entering the ring) to make money (other his guys the opportunity to attract new fans). Floyd’s business acumen will be on full display this summer and he is expected to once again, exit the ring a very wealthy man.
